Growing up, I always had to "find my headscarf" every night, it was never in the place my Mum thought it was as I was doing my best to lose it because it was nearly always ragdedy, a bit torn and frayed so was I constantly trying to hide it so I that mum would invest in a brand new one for me. it never worked, it only served to exaperate my mum on a nightly basis....
I made up my mind then, that I would buy the best that money could buy when I started working and this I did. It was fabulous but too big at nearly 90cms square and I had the nightly battle of trying to keep it on...plus it was silk and deteroited rather too quickly for my liking and was stained with the oils in my hair and did noit seem to like the regularity of washing, plus I noticed that my hair would dry out in the night, so I swithced to satin, and the moisture in my hair was noticibly better.
But the slipping off, continued so I had to find a solution, I made my first bonnet and it was my secret until I started making them for others who shared my issues. I invented a loop at the front so that the ties could not slip when I need my edges laid and protected. The elasticated style was used if i just need to thow on something for the night and was too tired to tie the bow, again this does not slip and is fully adjustable with a small silicone toddle that tucks up under the bonnet...
Over the years I have made different styles, but this one is my favourite at the momnet, well for this week at least...
